Post Void is very short but can be quite challenging if aiming is not your strong suite. Luckily the game has a lot of upgrades that can help alleviate that. There is some info and mechanics to go over before discussing strategies.
Enemies:
1. Suits - The enemies with guns, they shoot in a straight line towards you and can dodge your bullets. You can slide between their legs.
2. Flamingos - The two legged half-human things. They run straight at you and bit you. You can slide between their legs.
3. Crying Mouth - The turrets on the walls. They will continuously fire projectiles at you while you're in their vision.
4. Tele-Hands - The airborne spinning robots. Once you're in their vision they will fly towards you. When they hit you you will be slowed down immensely.
5. Bulb-Hands - Small hands that run up to you, explode and blind you. They don't do damage but are disorientating.
As mentioned with suits and flamingos, you can slide in this game. Sliding allows you to dodge projectiles, pass through enemies and it's faster than simply running.
The exit will always be "straight ahead" from your starting position. Within the level you may have to jump up or down a floor or travel slightly to the right or left but it will never be a hard left or hard right. When playing the first few levels you will get a feel for navigation. Sometimes there will be flesh walls in the way, they can be shot to open up. Flesh walls are NOT guaranteed to be the correct path, sometimes they will open up to a flat wall.
Strategies:
This strategy mainly relies on the uzi as it is fully automatic and has a large clip size, essentially letting you spray n pray. Every enemy in this game is capable of dying in one bullet (suits, flamingos and crying mouths with headshots, tele-hands and bulb-hands are always one shot). It is always recommended to keep running forward, if you don't kill an enemy before you pass them don't worry about it. You're on a strict time limit and turning around to kill one enemy isn't worth the time it burns off of your idol. You will gain a little amount back that is not equal.
There are some very important upgrades to look out for during your run. Due to the roguelite nature of the game none of these upgrades are guaranteed to pop up but you should look out for them.
- Enemies explode on death: This is extremely important for later levels when tele-hands and bulb-hands are present. These enemies die in one hit and often have the chance to kill other enemies around them.
- Less slowdown from enemies: Also important in dealing with tele-hands. They often come in groups and can both drain your health and slow you down.
- Ricochet bullets: Since you are using the uzi primarily you will be shooting a lot which means a lot of ricochet bullets! Even if you miss they can possibly kill an enemy further down the line.
- More bullets in clip: Good in general. Can be taken multiple times.
- More liquid in idol: Good in general. Can be taken multiple times.
If you are unlucky and cannot get the uzi early on then stick with the pistol. It will fire as fast as you can click and has a very fast reload and take the same upgrades as above. This game is a lot of trial and error especially with some level generation; however, once you get the hang of it it's very fun and rewarding!
