Deconstruction Simulator is an excellent simulation game where you demolish walls or even entire houses as tasks for customers. You get to choose between contracts and receive specific tasks for each. Destroying houses with a wrecking ball is so much fun! Around 16h to 100%.

I love games where you make adjustments to houses, make them more beautiful, functional, or whatever. And seeing your own money and reputation grow with each task. I never would have expected to have so much fun destroying walls and complete buildings!

The start of the game does such a great job with the tutorial. It not only functions as the way to explain how things work, it also sets a background story and gives you a taste of where your own company can go when it grows. Having access to a wrecking ball is so much fun, and by providing that experience early on, you can hook the player to want to get there once they start their own company.

I love the freedom you get in Deconstruction Simulator to decide which contracts to pick up, but also how crazy you will go with hoarding items to sell them for a profit before destroying a house. At first, I hoarded so many items because I wanted to save up money to get the biggest truck possible. Looking back at it, I can say that wasn't the way. Collecting and selling the items took so much time, and I only used the big truck a little bit. Going for the minor upgrades early on would have been a wiser decision.

The thing I missed in Deconstruction Simulator is hiring staff. I would have loved to have staff in the warehouse to unload your truck and load the car for potential buyers. I would also have loved a helper on the road to load items into your vehicle, as my least favorite part of Deconstruction Simulator was trying to fit as many items as possible into it to take with you. These are just small things, but I think it would have felt rewarding to have the option to delegate some of the more tedious tasks to other staff members.

However, that is all the negative critique I have. It was such a blast playing this game, and using the wrecking ball on later tasks was such a reward. It was great to see houses crumble like they were made of cardboard. I also love that there were strategies for tearing down the different types of houses. For a house made of wooden beams, it was enough to destroy the two outer beams in each section, and everything would fall. For houses made of bricks, just destroying the bottom row was enough. This works if you don't want to salvage the bricks. I found it too tedious to salvage them and store them in the right spot in your warehouse. If you had a helper around those tasks, I might have chosen to go for salvage, but in this case, destruction felt way better :P.

None of the achievements in Deconstruction Simulator are missable. There are like two types of achievements, for earning X amount of money and for completing X amount of contracts. There is also an achievement for finishing the tutorial and for one mission around the end of the game to conclude the story, which was a lot of fun! Completion takes around 16 hours or so. It highly depends on how crazy you go with collecting and selling items within a mission.

I give Deconstruction Simulator 4.5 out of 5 stars.
