Red Barrels has delivered an incredible co-op horror game set in the infamous Outlast franchise. With memorable villains and fun locations, this game stands as one of the best co-op horror experiences on the market. Red Barrels’ commitment to post-launch content is especially welcome, and it’s clear the game is being developed by a passionate team. The free post-launch DLC never feels dumb or out of place, unlike many live-service experiences.
The game does include microtransactions, but I played before they were added, and development only seemed to speed up afterward. It’s clear they were implemented to support ongoing updates and keep the game moving forward, which is exactly what microtransactions should be used for.
If you have the time and the money, I highly recommend picking this up. It’s a gem.
